Days 4 and 5 were a mixed bag. Two very nice vegan lunches out. One at a Chinese restaurant (Your Kitchen, Queens Road) who were kindly willing to change a dish to vegan – an old classic ‘Home Style Tofu’ (which normally contains meat). And a second at Tiffins, St Michael’s Hill – where everything is vegan anyway and is always lovey.

Dinner Day 4 – hummus on toast. All that was needed post the tofu lunch blow out.
Dinner Day 5 – first real disaster. Used the same good tomato sauce as for melanzane and put it with this product…

This stuff behaved OK in the pan – took on some colour – though seemed a bit tough to break up. But sadly in the eating things took a turn for the worse: horrible texture – the sort of gristly mouth feel you’d never think a vegan would have to suffer. And a really strange and unpleasant taste that lingered nastily well into the following day. Quorn btw – which seems OK from distant memory – isn’t vegan. Who knew?
Whilst I’m on bad products – this vegan tuna was also horrible. Straight in the bin.
